Serving Our City With Love

With Love, has had a wonderful and busy few months. In December, we had the privilege of giving out stocking stuffers to many foster kids at two different Foster Parent Nights Out, a DHS holiday party, and to individual families who reached out. We gave out over 200 stockings stuffers—or 1,600 items! We also provided new Christmas presents to over 30 foster families. To celebrate this season of giving, 25 volunteers came to our warehouse to make bundles of clothing for these families. These extra efforts of service came at the perfect time because DHS was short 1,500 toys this holiday season. So while With Love, couldn’t serve every child, it could brighten the holidays for some.

The With Love, warehouse now offers weekly times to come volunteer, from 7-9pm most Tuesdays and some Mondays. While many individuals come and volunteer their time, it’s also been a great place for friends to serve together. One mom said, “I realize you have a kid play area, and I could bring my kids. But this is my retreat, I prefer to leave them with Dad.” We strive to respect and honor the time of our volunteers. Upon arrival, they can grab coffee, juice, water, or wine along with a snack. Then for two hours we have activities planned to maximize their efforts. We promptly end by 9pm so we can send the leaders and volunteers home.

With Love, has been at three different Foster Parent Nights Out (FPNO) this past fall. But starting this month, we join forces with River West Church and serve on the second Saturday of the month handing out items to foster parents. We will be giving out clothes, toys, Easter baskets, swim gear, and much more over the months to come. The most important thing to us is supporting our heroes, foster parents. We love creating relationships with them and their children.

We need more volunteers to keep up with weekly request from DHS, foster families, and FPNO. Do you have a few hours a month to serve—with friends, your Growth Group, or by yourself? We could use some dedicated folks to help us sort through donations, bundle clothing, wash clothes at home, or pass items out at FPNO. With Love, has served hundreds of children in foster care because of the time and effort of people like you!
